Having a study space at home is perhaps one of the most neglected features by parents and students and it’s related to academic success, as it will allow your children stay focused and make their study and homework sessions more efficient and productive, plus it will help to instill a sense of routine and responsibility. For this reason at The Tutoring Center in Lawrenceville, we created the following post containing useful advice on setting up a study space at home.

Learning Style

Keep in mind that each student has a unique way to perceive and process information, and finding out their learning style is crucial to ease their study sessions. Remember that the learning styles can be visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Although most people combine each of these styles, there is a prevailing one and you should find a place in your home that adapts to it.

Setup

Remember that a too comfortable or too uncomfortable position can put your children to sleep or lead to strains and injuries, so try finding a chair that provides your children with the right position to learn. The room temperature should be around 67 degrees to keep your children alert. Last but not least, it’s also crucial spotting any distractions and remove them from the study space.

Schedule

Long study sessions are unproductive, so consider creating a study schedule with shorter and more effective time periods. Don’t forget to include breaks, as they will keep your children motivated and focused

Having a study space at home is crucial for great academic achievement and remember that it should be intended for learning only, as it will get your children into the right disposition to carry out their assignments. Also, be sure to read our guide on the importance of sleep.
